GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH


Crispy on the outside, melty on the inside — this grilled cheese sandwich is a timeless favorite made with golden buttered bread and perfectly melted cheese. Great on its own or paired with tomato soup, it's a quick and satisfying meal for any season.

Cook time: 5–6 minutes
Total time: About 10 minutes
Servings: Makes 1 sandwich (scale as needed)

Ingredients:
  • 2 slices of sandwich bread (sourdough, white, or whole wheat)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons butter (softened or melted)
  • 2 to 3 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, Swiss, or your favorite)
Instructions:
  1. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Place cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of the bread, with the buttered sides facing out.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the pan and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
  4. Slice in half and enjoy warm, optionally with tomato soup or a crisp salad.

Tips:
  • Use a lid while grilling to help the cheese melt faster.
  • Add extras like tomato slices, or caramelized onions for a twist.
  • Try mixing cheeses for more flavor depth — sharp cheddar with mozzarella works well.
